The inclosed letter I recd last night from Capt Joseph Offin Boyd of Portland. I have not the law here but I never understood that the provisional army or any of the volunteer corps were to be reduced. I pray you to consider this subject & if your opinion will warrant it write Capt Boyd a favorable answer. I arrived here last night. Wishing you health & comfort I remain your very humble sert.
