At a Meeting of the Heads of Departments held this morning, the question whether a person holding an office under the United States, to which pay and emoluments are annexed by Law, is entitled to extra pay for extra Services, being, by Order of the President, taken into consideration, they were unanimously of opinion that such person is so entitled.
You will therefore be pleased to consider yourself authorised to settle claims presented for extra Services, by persons holding offices as aforesaid, according to the regulations of your office in other cases.
