Accountants Office May 31 1800 – Sir On settlement of the accounts of Jeremiah Watkins of Hartford Connt. he has received a credit on the Books of the[?] for the amount of expenditures made by him for the purchase of sundry articles, agreeably to the directions of the Ho. S. of Work the greater part whereof appear to have been shipped by him to John Harris Military Store Keeper, & the remainder delivered to the Quarter master of the 13^th Reg^t of Infantry; an abstract whereof I herewith transmit you in order that the necessary entries may be made on the Books of the Superintendent of military Stores — Sam el His Hon^ble Brig^r – Maddock June 2^d 1800 Sir I have the honor to state in compliance with your letter of this date that the sum necessary to be advanced to the Gentleman in my Office to complete their advance to the 10 June, & to enable them to remove themselves & families to the City of Washington is estimated at three thousand nine hundred & thirteen Dollars; In addition to which I have to request an advance of eight hundred Dollars on account of my Salary & expences on the removal of my family – making on all five thousand seven hundred & thirteen dollars Sam el [undecipherable]
