May 1800 Sir Since seeing you I called upon Col^o Hamtramck to know in what manner the forage furnished to his and the other Officers horses, was to be accounted for — and was told that he expected to pay for what was issued for his horses, but that the Brigade Inspector was by a general order entitled to an allowance of forage the amount of which he expected the General would point out in his next letter to him — he has however calculated to purchase grain & pay for hay that his horses consumed.
