Your accounts for supplies to the Troops in the State of Rhode Island, to 31 Dec.r 1799, amounting p Your statement to six thousand nine hundred & five dollars & 94½/100 having been suspended for want of additional vouchers from the several officers which are now received, a settlement has accordingly been made & the sum of six hundred & thirteen dollars & 57/100, deducted therefrom, for reasons assigned in the inclosed acco.t of differences, which deduction together with Two thousand four hundred Dollars with which you stand charged, leave a balance in your favor of Three thousand eight hundred ninety two dollars & 97/100 which sum you will receive from John S Dexter Supervisor, upon granting him the necessary receipts —

I have received your letter dated the 19th Instant, inclosing your accounts for mustering & Inspecting Capt. Lemuel Gates's Company, of Rt & C. on Castle Islands; & for postage of Letters on Public service.
On reference to the Muster Rolls of Capt. Gates's C.o for the period charged in your account, It appears that you did not muster them for several months; it is therefore necessary previous to my acting on your accounts, that evidence be produced as to the number of Months they were mustered & inspected by you agreeably to instructions from the Department of War —
