Quartermaster Office April 28^th 1800 Sir In the examination of Dobiridge Crocker's account Stitt by you an objection was had to a very material amusement that is, why the price of the ration was not reduces conformably to the act of the 8 March 1799, indeed reducing the allowance of Monongahela Whiskey; this was a duty probably incumbent on you to have received for and of consequence requires some explanation from you. Mr Crocker having presented to this Office his accounts to February altho' his January accounts have yet not been before had me to presume they are in your possession; if correct and my requisitions I shall thank you to forward them without delay. W^r John d Foster Esq^r sup^r Providence R^e April 28^t 1800 Sir The Treasurer of the United States will remit you the sum of three thousand eight hundred Seventy two Dollars 8 9/100 which you must please to pay to John d Fojs late contractor being all balances due him for rations, forage master & [undecipherable] supplies & expencitures furnished the Troops of the United States in the State of Rhode Islands in the last quarter of the Year 1797 taking the necessary receipts for the same.
