Philadelphia 25 April 1800
Sir —
I have received your letter of the 10th instant — I am glad to find the Armourers accounts go safe to hand — I concluded some Detention had taken place with the Post — I am anxious as I have frequently expressed for the Documents to bring up all old transactions — I have contemplated for some time past a change in the Quarter Masters Department — Whether it will take place in consequence of any thing to be done in the present Congress I cannot determine until something arrives from our Commissioners — it is probable the present arrangement of the Army will remain as now — if an intimation of Peace is given a great change may be expected —
If you desire Colonel Irvine to make an assignment of his Powers or send me a new Letter of Attorney I will undertake to do your business relative to Stocks in the Funds — I am Sir, your most Obedient Servant
