The Statement therefor which I inclosed to you is erroneous and I have accordingly directed another to be formed, charging you in addition to the former balance of ninety dollars & 1/6ths with the sum of seven hundred & eighty nine dollars & 3/6ths the amount of double rations drawn by you as Commandant from 1 May 1797 to 30 Sept 1799, which leaves a balance against you of eight Hundred & eighty dollars & 4/6ths which sum you are required to refund to M^rs Henley or suspend drawing your Pay. I strongly advise the same shall be balanced. I inclose you for your government a copy of your account as it now stands on the Books of this Office — Sam H. From a cursory view of them I find you have not forwarded Vouchers N^os 1 & 9 38 & 39 to your account against the Fortifications N^os 1 — 13. 4 &. to that for mounting of Iron Carriages, which I mention for your government to when they are forwarded; the accounts will be examined & you informed of the results.
