[Page number: 100] [To: The^r Dempster Esq^r in Congress] Accountants Office April 24 1800 [To] In consequence of your application for sundry claims which were before this office by you, a search has been made and many appear to have been filed or returned, it will be necessary in order effectually to comply with your request that I should be furnished with a list of such as you may yet want of those which have been omitted by you & not titled — Sam^l P^o W[undecipherable] The Secretary of War April 24^th 1800 Sir Agreeably to your directions on the 22 inst^t Mr Aldrige was immediately called upon for his further information on account of the Fortifications at Mud Island — I have now to inform you that he has accordingly rendered his accounts & vouchers for expenditures up to the present day which have have amounted the sum of Doll 456 [undecipherable] papers to his credit, leaving a balance still due by him & full [undecipherable: M & I] of Two thousand eight hundred twenty four Dollars & [undecipherable] — and that I shall therefore want your further direction before the Warrant issues on the 22 inst^t for 1000 Dollars in his favor as an advance from this Office — Sam^l P^o W[undecipherable]
