On settlement of Jonas Craig's account the 13 Sept last, for Hay &c of the troops in the vicinity of Rahway, there remained a balance due by him to the United States of seven hundred seventy seven dollars & [undecipherable] which I request you will deduct from the amount sent by him to your office for examination, when that is done you will please notify the same to me, in order that his account may be closed in the Books of this Office —
