Lamberton 19^th April 1800 Colo: Samⁿ Hodgdon Sir I have on Rec^t of your favour of the Inst. turned my attention to the adjust- -ment of the acc^t you ordered to be arranged and from the following reason find there will be great difficulties arising in that business — The supplies which were furnished here in 1794 issued to the New Jersey troops on the orders of the Commissioned Officers from every part of the State whose rec^ts when taken by me for them and afterwards they rec. Supplies at Reading Harrisburg Carlisle & Bedford and where we arrived at Pittsburgh there was a deposit made there by order of Gen. Lee of a large Portion of the Stores and arms and on our way back there was deposits of these articles made at Bedford, Carlisle Harrisburgh & Reading by the officers and Privates, and in many instan- -ces without any regular Rec^t and the officers & men distributed through the States and some of them are now dead and others moved away — I will endeavour to make you the best esti- -mate in my power, and forward it — I do not think at this time any thing can be collected from the few scattering articles that remain in the hands of the Jersey line — the Horses were the principal with some tents Pistols & Swords — with much respect — I am Sir Your Most Humble S^t Peter Hunt
