McHenry] War Department 18 April 1800— Sir, I received your letter of the 9^th instant James Doles Pension was stopd from the 4^th March 1795, until it should amount to four hundred and seventy two Dollars which he had been erroneously paid as mentioned to you in a letter from the Secretary of War dated 11^th August 1795. His Pension (which is one hundred Dollars p Annum) from March 1795 to March 1800 will leave a balance of twenty eight Dollars in his favour which you will pay to him — his pension will recommence at the former rate, viz 8⅓ dollars p month from 5^th March last.
