Ultimo. and by it my hopes of compensation for former Services are somewhat revived — Altho my Dear friend I assure you my doubts are not removed, nor can I discover that the Secretary of War is favourably disposed towards my Claim. This you will find accompanied by the several Vouchers of Issues at this place, and Invoices of Stores sent forward addressed to the several posts, during the months of April May and June 1798, in the Ordnance Quarter Master, Hospital and Indian Departments, Agreeable to the Abstracts transmitted you by last post — Abstracts of the succeeding months of that year are now in hand and will shortly be transmitted to you accompanied by the relative Vouchers.— In comparing these vouchers with the Abstracts some [undecipherable: probable reading "small"] errors appear — which are accounted for by the enclosed Note & Invoice of Stores sent to LeBoeuf the 21 March 1798.— Your report of the value of Army Lands is very unfavourable indeed — I am Sir, Your obedient Servant, [undecipherable] D Qu[undecipherable] Samuel Hodgdon esq Philadelphia
