D^rs 180.— Oct^r 2^d Paid ditto... for superintending the building of the Dam attached to the Canal from the 9 Aug^t to 21 Oct^r 1799.... 64 days @ 5 dol^rs p day ..... 320.— Oct^r 15 Paid John Tulley as Overseer of Laborers on the Canal from the 15 June to 15 Oct^r 1799 - 105 days @ 1 doll^r p day $ 105.. his board wages 4 months @ 8 d^rs p mo... 32.— 137.— 31 Paid R Whittel assistant to the Superintendent on the Canal from May 7^th to Oct^r 12^th 1799, being 5 ¾ months 1800 @ 50 doll^rs p month ... 258.33⅓ Feb^y 10^th Paid Abram Shepard for performing the duties of Superintend^t of the Canal from 24^th May to the 19^th Oct^r 1799. 128 days at 5 doll^r p day .......................... 640.— Mar. 6.... Paid Robert H Breeden assistant to the Pay master & Store keeper from 1 Jan^y to 28 Feb^y 1800 @ 25 dollars p month ......................... 50.— I have also to inform you that on the 9 January 1799, I transmitted to Mr. Mackey by letter, a statement of sundry payments made at this Office, chargeable by direction of The Secretary of War to his accounts, in which was included 'Warrant N^o 3532 dated Dec^r 15 1798 in favor of William Small for $190.— on account of the expenses of establishing an Armoury at Harpers Ferry in Virginia which sum is to be paid by the above Mr Small to John Mackey Pay master & Store keeper at said place for which sum he is to be accountable'— and that Mr. Mackey now refuses to be accountable for the same. He was at the same time furnished with a list of the following Warrants issued to Joseph Perkins & James Brindley for the purpose of holding the said Josephs Perkins :: accountable.
