Doll: 72.— The Sec^y of War— March 26^th 1800— I Certify that there is due to James Bruff— Cap^tn in the 1^st Reg^t of A. & C. the sum of Five dollars & 44/— being balance on settlement of his account for expences of himself & two men of his Company in going from Baltimore to Niagara while there & for returning by order of Major Gen^l Hamilton to attend a Court of enquiry in the case of Major Rivarde's account admitted by The Secretary of War which sum is to be transmitted to Edward Barrington supervisor at Richmond (Virginia) & be by him paid to the said Cap^tn Bruff— W.S.
