Fort Johnson, 30.^th March 1800. — Sir I have received orders from Major General Hamilton to apply to you for the Clothing of a complete Company of Artillerists and Engineers which he has authorized me to inlist in this State, North Carolina and Georgia — "You would confer a favor on me if you would have this Clothing forwarded as soon as possible to Charleston to the care of a M.^r W.^m Crafts Agent for the War Department — and to be subject to my Order. — You would also greatly oblige me if you would direct all the defficiencies of Clothing due to Kalteisen's Company and Shoes for Cap.^t Frye's to be sent by the same conveyance. — I enclose you a report of a board of Officers to shew why Frye's Company require Shoes — If there should be any forms of returns, or any particular orders relative to the mode of obtaining Clothing, you would oblige me if you were to transmit me copies thereof.
