Sir,
I have the honor to inclose a paper signed by Captain Nicholls certifying one suit of cloaths to be due to John Gold; also a power of Attorney from the latter person to John Strong. You will oblige me by informing me if it will be possible, and what measures are to be taken to procure the cloathing for Strong, who is orderly to Major General Hamilton, which is the reason of my interesting myself in this affair
with sentiments of Respect
& Esteem I am Sir
Your ob'd sent.

[The issuance signed by the Officer commanding in Georgia must be produced, before payment can be made. It has been usual where Soldiers [have?] [undecipherable] Certificates and in the present case [from?] Mr Hodgdon [he] explains that they have [proceeded?] to the a[ccounting?] Quarters and there received any Balance of Pay or Clothing due them and received a final Discharge to which was annexed the receipt of the party to that effect — It is therefore required that such Discharge be produced, and if that States any balance of Clothing due specifying the articles — the same will be settled and paid at this Office.
