Springfield March 12^th 1800: Sir Your favours of the 5^th & 6^th. ins^t. the latter covering two thousand Dollars in Post Notes on account of the Armory was duly received by yesterdays Mail — This sum together with sixteen hundred Dollars received in your letter of the 24^th. ult^o. (of which you must received advice ere this) will answer my present purposes — The mode adapted by yourself of remitting about one thou[sand] Dollars at a time on account of the risk — will in general enable me to meet my payments, necessity only shall induce me to advise a different mode — I can readily conceive the anxiety of your mind, in these money transactions — by my own from which I am seldom free — the only alleviation is of being advised. my vouchers having passed examination & the amount placed to my credit.
