I very much want the List of Articles necessary for the approaching Summer supply, to enable me to forward what may be suitable to you; also, to guide me in directions to the Agent in London, [M: William Murdoch,] for sending from thence the most pro-per Articles for the Indian Trade, in return for the peltries shipped, and to be shipped to his ad-dress. Immediately on the reception of this Letter, I will thank you to send forward to me a minute Statement of the Property belonging to the Factory under your charge, as may appear on minute investigation, also your ideas respecting the debts due the Factory, which were entrusted by your predecessor, and particularly by the transactions with M: Seagrove, the manner in which his debt was contracted, and whether the Sum said to be owing by Seagrove is real or other-wise. State also, the situation of the debts, whether there is a probability of their being recovered, in whole or in part: if in part only, to what part: Please to in-form me also whether any of the Horses, Cattle & Hogs, have been recovered, how many of each, their value. and the probability or improbability of recovering more. Also be pleased to [undecipherable] M^r. [undecipherable: probable reading "Price"] his-[undecipherable] with the Factory, and ascertain whether any thing which he has taken to his own use, has not been credited to the debit of his account by him, or his [undecipherable: "Pur-" visible, word continues]-ants. and whether the Negro Woman is now [undecipherable] as public or private property; also yor pro, &c. relative to the Indian Trade in its present establish-ment in the State of Georgia. & finally, every kind of information relative to the business. and which may be or [undecipherable] to making a fair and just statement of the Indian Trade. the foregoing requisite-ions, are in consequence of an investigation of the Trade and the manner in which the business has been con-ducted; by Congress, and in consequence of the Secre-tary of War's directions to me.
