Accountants Office February 23^rd 1800 I Certify that there is due to Samuel Hodgdon superintendant of military Stores the sum of Two thousand two hundred & twenty four dollars, ninety five cents being for sundry disbursements by him during the two last quarters of the year 1799 & part of the first quarter of the present year, consisting of the pay of sundry persons employed in the military Store Department, Stationary, Wood, & other Incidental Contingent expenses & the rent of Stores & grounds occupied for public service &c W.S. Dolts 2224. 92. On an investigation of the particular items of expenditures and comparing them with the sums appropriated for those purposes, it appears that there is an excess beyond the sum appropriated, but it being stated by Mr. Hodgdon, that they were necessary for the public service they are admitted subject to the decision of the Secretary of War as to what appropriation such excess is to be charged — M.S. March 1^st 1800 I Certify that there is due to the Executors or administrators of the late M^r Westwood contractor at Norfolk Virginia the sum of Three thousand four hundred seventy one dollars & ⁶⁶/100 being a balance for Rations quarter master & Hospital Stores furnished the garrison at [undecipherable] Monroe in April May June & July 1799, & to L^t Weston's [undecipherable] at Suffolk in July 1797, which sum is to be transmitted to Col. [undecipherable] [undecipherable] to be by him paid to the legal representatives of said M^r Westwood deceased Dolts 2471.66 N.S.
