11 Natchez Feby 27th 1800
Sir
Since writing you on the 12th Inst, Lieut Bogle has been nominated by the Officers of the 3d Regt for the Pay Masters Place, in order there on to promote the views of Government, and the accommodation of the Troops, I have directed him to enter upon the duties of the sd Office, until the will of Mr Appt Gent Hamilton may be known. He will accordingly adopt for his government and guidance, the Instructions and forms which addressed to the late Lieut Lewis, will appropriate the Bills drawn in favor of that deceased Officer to the current objects, and will transmit the necessary receipts for the same, with the security required by Law to Capt Swan, and I expect to have his vouchers for the pending payments to the Accountant in May.
You have under cover the copy of a letter ["written" this day to Captain Lance your deputy.
Respectfully Sam Sir
