Springfield February 27^th 1800 Sir, Being necessarily absent a few days on business for the Factory, I requested M^r Dyes to open your letters directed to me - & if money found therein to acknowledge the same to you in my behalf — he this morning, put into my hands yours of the 20^th & 21^st inst with [undecipherable] Dollars in [undecipherable: probable reading "bank notes"] will have his acknowledgment of its safe arrival before this reaches you.
