Until Lewis Lively of Georgia has furnished to me the written papers relative to the claim of late hurs for ration Returns due him on the western Expedition. On reference to the accounts of the Virginia Militia on that expedition I discover that an order for returns of late hurs was furnished by you to this Office by letter under date of the 6th Decr 1797, with sundry explanations hereto, and that the account with sundry other papers was returned to your person to your having this duty. As will have no official operation over any of which you are fully informed, I return you the papers enclosed, that with those in your possession you may be enabled to adjust the claim and pay the balance the letter shows which you may find on investigation to be such. him requiring his attention as to the number of Ration Returns & the balances due, I have informed Lively limited to this office she with no doubt communicate the same to late hurs for the purpose of making application to you —
