M^r William Leavitt Accountants Office Minister Vermont February 16^th 1800 Sir I duly rec^d your letter & the 7 Vouchers enclosing your Accounts Vrovisher for supplies at Bennington Barracks, which I now enclose to you to be corrected and furnish additional Vouchers. The rations for stations are drawn out in so irreilar a manner as to make it impossible to understand them without further explanations concernt fiction. The Quarter master & Hospital Books are very generally referred in front of settlement from the Commanding Officer. I shall therefore refer you to my letter of the 7^th Instant which fully explains the kind of Vouchers required. I am y^r &c --- Lieut^t H P. Dayton Accountants Office Wilmington &c February 18 1800 Sir I duly received your letter dated the 13^th Ult: & Vouchers reper- rative on the subject thereof, to make the necessary communications to the Treasury Department, relative to the sum which you verbally informed me had been received from M^r C Danilts on your stations. But I have been uninformed an explanation at the Office of the Commissioner of the Revenue, do not find any trace of this transaction, in the name of Trish Brentz. I must therefore be more fully informed of the particular circumstances before I can demand on the steps necessary to be pursued. In giving me this information, you will state the period in which the Rations were drawn, & to whom accounts were rendered or was consisted of the transactions as he did not act as a Contractor and it does not appear that he ever rendered any acc^t: or which the sum you speak of was included — After I receive this information I shall inform you of the result.
