The Rations for stations are drawn out in so [undecipherable] a manner as to make it impossible to understand them without further explanations concerning them. The muster master & Hospital [books?] are very generally [undecipherable] in [undecipherable] of [undecipherable] from the Commanding Officer. I shall therefore refer you to my letter of the 9 Instant which fully explains the kind of Vouchers required. [undecipherable signature] Lieu^t d. f. Sir I duly received your letter dated the 12^th & 6 [Instant?] [undecipherable] on the receipt thereof, to make the enquiry communicating with the Treasury Department, relative to the sum which you verbally informed me has been received from M^r [undecipherable] on your [account?]. But I have been unsuccessful in an explanation at the Office of the [Commissary?] of the Revenue, I do not find any trace of this transaction in the name of [undecipherable] but I must therefore be more fully informed of the particular circumstances before I can decide on the step necessary to be pursued. In giving me this information you will state the project for which the Rations were drawn; of [whose?] accounts were included in the transcription; as he did not act as a [Storekeeper?] and it does not appear that he ever renders any acc^t in which the sum you speak of was included. After I receive this information I will inform you of the result.
