Sir
I have received Your letter of the 7th instant, accompanied by one addressed to Capt. Turner which I have sent him and shall deliver Your Message to him this Evening — I am sorry that any difficulty has occurred in the way of obtaining the Land Warrant on Johnstons Claim I had presumed that the Letter of Attorney & Instrument after sent you amounted to a sufficient proof of the man & Validity of his Claim, but should they both prove insufficient You will please to return them to me — I have not had an opportunity of seeing nor obtaining A Draft from the [undecipherable] Gen. this morning he told me he would send it to me perhaps it may come before the Mail Close if not it shall certainly be obtained to Morrow & sent by next Post or private hand should such an opportunity to one of [us] sooner offer.
Pray what prospect is there of the Secretary ever coming to a decision on my [undecipherable] Claim I frequently write to him but he Seldom deigns to acknowledge my lette[r] his predecessor did not treat me thus —
The Snow is now deeper here than the Oldest Inhabitants of this Country remembers to have seen before and River at [undecipherable] with Ice —
I am
with Respect
[to] you
