Sir I have drawn an Order in favor of Mr Abraham Shepird, for you for Seventy Nine Dollars and Eighty five Cents. dated this day, which I hope you will except, it being the Sum due me for repairs of Arms &c (under an agreement with Major E Langham late Superintendent of U.S. Military Stores at this place. The Contract for which the above sum is a part, was for 172/85½ and, for which latter Sum I had given a Receipt in full soon after the contract was made with the View to enable Major Langham to draw the money & pay it me as I wanted it (and as fast as I earned it, but having now Executed more of the work than what is Stated in the account I have no Claim to any higher Amt than the $79.85 Cts above Stated. I mention this [undecipherable] to prove that, there is no intention I believe in any one to defraud the U.S. as also to inform that by the time the work was done as far as is Stated in the account, the U.S. Stores were placed in the direction of Mr Mackey since which I have not Continued to do any further works at the arms — (and am
