The account for rations due to major Gen'l Hunter & his aids Delcamp was forwarded from this Office for Mr Dayton Agent for the Army here for the purpose of examining it by the muster rolls to ascertain the period of service.
He has returned it with a letter by which it appears that the aids Delcamp receives the pay of major, choosing such ranks they are entitled only to four instead of [undecipherable] rations [fixed]

I have received your letter of the 21 [undecipherable] accompanying your accounts for rations & other articles supplied the troops at Westminster on 25 Dec 1799, upon looking into them they prove so very defective that I have thought proper to return them. — The [undecipherable] [undecipherable] supplies no men merely with rations for some time, it is necessary to state the commencement & termination of the rations received by the men, and indeed in every other instance the rations & the component parts do not form the number of rations charged.
