I have received your letter of the 24th Ulto covering your acct of expenditures on account of the fortifications erecting for the defence of the Town [undecipherable] of Detroit in 1799 amounting to Four hundred ninety Five dollars & [undecipherable], which being found free of error, the said sum will be transmitted to you by the Treasurer of the United States together with the sum of One thousand one hundred thirteen dollars & [undecipherable], being to refund you what sums paid to Majr Genl [undecipherable] for amt of his account of [undecipherable] for repairs made to the Barracks there sitting accountable at both Islands in the Harbor of Detroit for both which sums you will please to grant the necessary recipts —
