This morning I received your letter of the 24 instant covering your Statement of the Private account between us — I have not time to reply particularly to it by this Post, but I will by the next — in the mean time I wish to receive a draft to enable me to close my quarter Morton transactions, and that it may be done I pray you to send me one for the balance as stated, by you, the adjustment of the residue may be a subsequent business — The Secretary of War I am informed has made a requisition on such sums and in such way as will enable him to adjust and by all claims not heretofore provided for — If the appropriation is made, it is probable your claim may be attended to, and for this we must wait — I will not lose sight of the business — Yours very sincerely
