Your letters of the 23 & 24^th instant enclosing sixteen hundred Dollars in Post Notes, on account of the Armory have been duly received — this sum closes the amount of my Estimate of four thousand one hundred dollars — if further acknowledgments are necessary please to inform me. I have been very much disappointed in procuring large Wood screws suitable for heel plates for the Muskets — the Town of Boston & New York, have been searched & none suitable for the purpose are to be found — can they be procured in Philadelphia — if they can — will you be good enough to forward on a temporary supply — say from twenty to forty Gross — by the Stage to New York from whence they can come by water to New haven & thence within my reach — I have furnished several Merchants, who Import hard ware Goods with samples of the kind made use of in the Factory — an ample supply may be expected by the Spring Ships — The immediate want & the failure of procuring them otherwise is my apology for giving you this trouble — I am Sir Your Obedient Servant Joseph Williams [Address: Samuel Hodgdon Esquire]
