Dear Sir, On examining your Statement of our Acc^ts transmitted to me received on the 10^th September last, I have discovered that it differed in some instances from my entries; and therefore have made out & herewith transmitted a General State-ment — accompanied by a note which points out the difference of our Statements, which you will per amounts to 722 ⁹²/100 dollars. I have this moment received your letter of the 17^th inst: I hope the Secretary of War in his liberal requisitions has had my claim for compensation for Services in Ordnance and Clothing Department — I wish you would once more take the trouble of asking him for a decision on my claim — And you will also please to enquire — Why it is required of me to perform the duty of Commissary of Military Stores & Clothier at this post without compensations? — Whilst same time at Detroit, Natchez and I believe Fort Wayne — Commissaries of Military Stores appointed and paid — Should no satisfactory be stained — Will it not be proper to apply to Congress this present Session? — I am Dear Sir, Your obed.
