January 22^d 1800 Sir, In reply to your letter of his date enclosing the Copy of one to you from Elisha Brown — I have to observe, that the Arms fabricated, for the use of the United States in Rhode Island and at Attleborough in the State of Massachusetts, are according to contract, to be delivered at Providence. I will thank you therefore, to direct your Agent at that place, to receive from the Contractors, all such arms as they may offer to deposit, on account of their respective contracts, provided the same be accompanied with the proper certificates of Inspection, signed by Cap^t Decius Wadsworth or Joseph [undecipherable].
