The QM Genl says he expects to set out for Philadelphia in a few days but should he defer his journey longer than next Post I shall send you a draft for the Balance of our present acct.
It is certainly not possible that Congress will [undecipherable] the Army whilst our Negotiations are pending at the Court of the Directory - On Wednesday last the Military & Citizens of Pittsburgh together with some of the Uniform Calvary & Infantry companies of the neighboring county united in doing Funeral Honors to the Memory of our beloved & Immortal Chief. Every Citizen & Every Solider seemed to Vie with each other in that occasion to conform to the Order of the President - O our New Year has had a sorrowful beginning heavy clouds seem to hang over us I trust however that we have a Majority in Congress determined to do right - The Barrell of Coffie you were kind enough to Promise has not yet come to hand, it is much wanted.
