Craig discusses military stores and shipment with Hodgdon
Document 1800Major Craig informs Samuel Hodgdon of his intent to send returns by next post. Craig also mentions Pittsburgh's public commemoration of General Washington.
Pittsburg 3rd January 1800 Sir, I have this moment received your favour of the 27th ult.o accompanied by two letters which go forward by this days mail I expect by next post to transmit a Return up to the end of the year - together with a part of the papers formerly required - Those respecting the Commifsary department. I feel particularly anxious to have settled but for that purpose Vouchers of [unsure] at Marietta - I have not yet been able to obtain - the [unsure] for that post was given in charge of M. Joseph Buel recommended by Colo Sproat who commouded - but whom I have not yet been able to bring to a settlement but shortly expect to effect it as well as the provisions at Beaver Block house- On Wednesday next the Decease of General George Washington is to b^ commemorated with military honor + all other due respect by the Citizens of Pittsburg and its neighbourhood. The Monongahela is now shut up with ice. I am Same Hodgdon Esqr
