Abel Thompson Accountants Office Fort Niagara December 31. 1799 Sir I have duly received yours of the 21 Aug.^t 15 & 28 Nov.^r & 18 Instant, with their enclosures since which your acct. has been stated having obtained now standing against you of Dec 14. 08 [undecipherable] produce add: This sum paid Carrington Smith has a Recruits in the Detachment of Infantry at Niagara being part of his late general [undecipherable] for his pay from 1 Sept 1799 to 8^th May 1799 the date of his discharge The same having already been [undecipherable] to your credit on D & H[undecipherable] — 40. M [undecipherable: Dollt 54. 39] Amounting to Fifty four dollars & [undecipherable] an abatement which has been handed to [undecipherable] by Pay master [undecipherable], who omits to [undecipherable] the necessary deductions from your pay by our order to balance last amount on the Books of this Office. — Sam B^r N.S.
