Regulations to be observed in the delivery and distributions of Fuel and Straw to the Garrisons on this Sea Coast, and Recruiting Parties Fuel. 1 To Every Lieutenant Colonel and Major one cord and an half per ten months, from the first day of October to the first day of April every year. 2 To every commanding officer of Surgeon one and an half and [undecipherable] per month. 3 To Every Officer commanding a recruiting party one cord [undecipherable] and [undecipherable] for months. 4 To every commissioned officer one cord per months. 5 To every non commissioned officer one half cord per month, and for privates one third of a cord for months. 6 To a private [undecipherable] guard one half cord and [undecipherable] of a cord per month. 7 To officers and soldiers half the quantity and an amount of a cord from the first day of April to the first day of October in many of. 8 To the sick in hospitals the allowance of a cord to be reported by Surgeons. Straw. 1 One [undecipherable] of Straw weighing thirty three pounds is allowed for each Soldier for two men at the expiration of [undecipherable] Days each Table. is to be refreshed with eight Pounds at the expiration of thirty five days. The whole Straw is to be renewed at each having of one truly to be furnished and the one only succeeding period of Soldiers and thirty two days. The same quantity of Straw is allowed for Servants and those not Soldiers and not Washerwoman attached to each bort and on the Proportions of one [undecipherable] woman to every [undecipherable] ten Non-commissioned Officer and private. The Straw is to be changed for the Sick in hospitals as often as may be deemed necessary, this necessity to be determined by the Surgeon. Requisitions for Fuel or Straw. Requisition for Wood or Straw must state the number and name of the officers, the number of Non commissioned officers and privates, servants and as Botton and not a dress — and Washer Women by by the Commandant of the Garrison, or Recruiting Party. 2. No Wood or Straw shall be drawn for officers, or Soldiers, whilst on furlough, or any allowance made to them for the same. 3. When ever it shall appear that more Wood or Straw has been drawn than there were officers, Soldiers, Servants or Bat men not Soldiers, and Washer Women actually present and entitled thereto; the Commissary Officer signing such requisitions, shall be held responsible for the Value of the article drawn beyond the quantity allowed by these regulations; and shall have his name and the Circumstances of the Case, reported to the Secretary for the Department of War. 4. Requisitions than [undecipherable] drawn by the officers, to whom the articles are destinated for consumption, shall be produced — Vouchers by the Contractor, Agent or Quarter master for in the Settlement of his accounts. As a Smaller quantity of Wood may suffice for the garrison and Recruiting parties to the Southward than allowed by these regulations; those Commandants are empowered to regulate the demands for the article by the nature of the Climate.
