No [undecipherable: possibly 39] Phila.^d the 20^th Dec.^r 1799 Sir, Several times, not having opportunity, when I would inform You of my intention, and ask particulars of Your favour, — I take by this the liberty — Sir, Your knowing and established Character is able to help me in recommendation to some business in one or an other honest branch — I have allways had plenty employment, in surveying and drawing &c. untill when the unhappy time of the prevailing fevers in our city so often appears and since a while ago in Land business is not much more to do — since such time I find myself with my large family most lost, and it put me under necessity for applying to some in an other line of honest business.
