The Q^r M^r Gen is still here — he has now under examination my Vouchers of Disbursements at this place & Posts depending from the first of April of this Year — He has rejected an Account of Pay of an Armourer, who has been & is still very usefully employed in cleaning & repairing the Arms on hand at this Post Assigning as a Reason that having no Superintendance nor Controul over the Ordnance department it would be improper to admit Armourer's Accounts — I confess I am somewhat at a loss to determine whether his rejecting these Accounts proceed from a desire to adhere strictly to the letter of his Duty, or a want of an accommodating Disposition — as Similar Disbursements have heretofore uniformly been admitted — I find I shall be under a necessity of giving you a little more trouble on this Business by transmitting this Acc. to you as soon as the Q^r M^r's final Determination is known respecting them — Yesterday a Detachment of Recruits marched from hence for Carlisle under the Command of Cap^t Duncan & will when joined by a Party at Bedford amount to Sixty five tolerable good men — S[i]r.
