My dear Sir Annapolis Dec^r 9^th 1799. [foo?] I recieved your kind Favor of the 3^d with the inclosed papers, for which I am very thankful. I presume You have before this heard that our Legislature have passed Laws for the Crop Cutt, loaning Money to the Potomac & Susquehanna Companies, clearing the Bed of the S. River, by which the different Interests are accomodated & gratified; I hope it [undecipherable] will prove highly beneficial to our State, it will certainly gratifie our future Sessions. — There Still continues a very pleasant Society in this Place, tho not so extensive as when We were here, I see strong Marks of it's Declension, & if future Legislatures Should unfortunately pass no Law for the Removal of the Seat of Government from hence, it must destroy it. — [in]d M^r Carroll wears remarkably well, [undecipherable] as good Spirits as I ever knew; He promises to live to a great Age. — I can give You no News. — I am glad to find our Friend Sedgwick is chosen Speaker; & Condy unchosen Clerk. — Yours Sincerely &c W^m Hindman
