Samuel Hodgdon Esqr
Sir
I duly received your favor of yesterday inclosing Miss Hollingsworth Hrs levt to emit my draft on you, your attention to this as also to my former commands, lays me under peculiar obligations to you —
I duly note what you observe concerning the coats & Vests for Capt Elliots company at Reading, they are now in readiness to forward to Mr Miller & shall be attended to immediately — The various kind & Multiplicity of demands on me, has occasioned a neglect in this particular, — and you no doubt must be sensible that the late calamity which our City sustained, has caused not a little disorder & confusion, in business, and prevented my paying that attention, which the nature of it Requires, but I hope for the future it will proceed on in a regular train; —
The continual changes which take place in the Situation of detachments, of the Artillery, does also make difficulty; but to prevent it in future will comply
with your Request by forwarding returns of what is issued by me —
Inclosed is a return of the coats Vests &c which I have lately supplied, for your government, there are about three hundred fifty Coats now on hand with some Jackets & Pantaloons together with ours, which may be issued to you, should you think proper —
I am Sir
with Respect
