Sir,
I have received your letter dated the [undecipherable] on the subject of the balance of David Allisons account with which you and Nelson Hunt are chargeable. In reply to which I have to inform you that the account will immediately be refered to the Comptroller of the Treasury in the usual manner where delinquencies have arisen and the [undecipherable: necy] steps will be taken by him in the recovery of this balance. The accounts I have continued open for a very long time to give you an opportunity of paying your proportion of the balance previous to its being reported, but it is now necessary that the steps which I have mentioned should be pursued, as the delinquency on your part has been [undecipherable] other inconveniences but [undecipherable] not paying his part of the balance for which he will now be called upon to pay immediately —
