I have this moment rec'd your two letters of the 4th instant, the one respecting the [undecipherable] to be made from below. I have referred to the Pay master General for the purpose of giving the necessary direction to the Agent or Pay-master who may have the paying them — The information you require respecting the men [undecipherable] by the late [undecipherable] Thompson you can get from [undecipherable] who I am informed had all of the late [undecipherable] Thompsons papers —
The alarm you had respecting the warrant of [undecipherable] on foot would be truly alarming to the [undecipherable] there was such a report here some time ago & I sent one of my [undecipherable] to the [undecipherable], to have it ascertained, and was informed it was not so but would be [undecipherable] as they were should it have been otherwise or any difficulty in his apprehension, I should have taken the earliest opportunity to inform you. I received the Warrant on the power you forwarded to me and shall take care to have those letters in time
