Pittsburgh 22^d Nov^r 1799 Dear Sir Your favours of the 12^th & 15^th are received, by the former I am advised of two Musquets coming forward to be applied as patterns for Albert Gallatin, the latter enclosed J^s [undecipherable: probable reading Wallace's] Invoice a which he inadvertantly conveyed away without a Receipt, but which is now Presented & returned to you. — I thank you for your attention to the Business of M^r Andrews I am apprehensive that he wishes himself again at the Head of our Seminary at Pittsburgh — The Cloathing contained in Hhd N^o 5 was appropriated to Cap^t Lyman's Company at Presquile — and some other alterations were made in shipping the Cloathing for Detroit the particulars of which I shall Examine into & report to you by next Post — A favourable rise of the River has Enabled me to Ship and Send forward the Clothing &c for the Posts on Ohio & Mississippi — I am Still in a disagreeable State of uncertainty with respect to Compensation for Services in the Ordnance Department and I am apprehensive that I ought not to continue in service under these Circumstances — my letter to the Secretary of War on that subject has not been treated with any attention. I pray mention this Business once more to Col^o Pickering at some convenient time — I am with great Esteem.
