Philadelphia 22^d November 1799 Your letter of the 15 instant is before me — The [undecipherable: information?] it alludes to the Clothing, is perfectly satisfactory and pleasing — the [undecipherable] Soldier will [undecipherable: prosper?] With [undecipherable] by its [undecipherable: renewal?] they will be able to [undecipherable: encounter?] in in its utmost rage — I have wondered much at the long absence of the D.M. General's, as several things have seem to make his presence necessary — When he comes I shall close my concerns with him — indeed as he has authorized M^r James Miller to settle for him, it is probable it will be effected in part before he arrives I am glad to find you have made an arrangement with him for paying my balance as I wish the settlement with him to be complete and final — I am not particularly acquainted with the arrangement made for the Troops ordered to Pittsburgh — but am ready to conclude that only the Three Companies will be stationed there — as it is well known the Barracks will not accomodate a greater number of men — I had heard of the appointment of Captain [undecipherable: Jamison?] as [undecipherable: Sitting?] Member for the North Western Territory, and am glad to find he is coming on, tho' he will not be intitled to Vote on any question — By all means send me the Papers requested I want to be able with proper [undecipherable] to Accounts to make your store Accounts stand fair in my Books & I am Sir.
