War departm^ent 18. November 1799. The Secretary of War has decided, in conformity with principles adopted by the Secretary of the Treasury, that the Accounts for extra expences incurred in his Department by the removal to Trenton, shall be made out on the following principle, viz. Married Men to charge for House Rent, Transportation of Furniture, Carriage hire for their families and expences on the Road. Single Men to charge for difference between board in Trenton and Philadelphia and for Stage hire and expences on the Road. It is the wish of the Secretary that a general account of the expences of your Office, including those of the Head thereof, should be made out and submitted to him. Sam Sir Your obed.
