I Samuel Dales of lawful age testify &
say that [strikethrough: the acquaintance] [undecipherable] John [undecipherable] during
the Expedition against Fort Cumberland, under the Command of Col. Eddy in the
year 1776 at Nova Scotia in which Service he was
very active, and continued so till the Party was
defeated, after which I did not see him again till
about the year 1780 when meeting with him in
Thomaston have been acquainted with him [strikethrough: there]
and in Warren [strikethrough: where] he has lived ever since

Lincoln [undecipherable] November 9, 1799 then the above named
Samuel Daly personally appeared and after being
carefully examined and duly cautioned to testify
the Truth and nothing else made solemn Oath
