Colonel Ebenezer Stevens 31st Octb 1799 Recd 2d November Enclosed returns of 99 The 15th Regiment 37 1/2 Samuel Hodgdons Esqr. Intendt Public Stores Philadelphia New York 31 Octr 1799 103 Samuel Hodgdon Esqr Sir Inclosed is two returns of Clothing & Qr Masters Stores Wanted, for the 15th Regiment Infantry commanded by Lt. Colo. Richd Hunnwell there appears a considerable deficiency of Shirts & Woolen Overalls, and as the Weather is becoming cold, it is necessary they should have a seaonal supply. It appears by the Qr Masters return that they have not received any musquets. You will readily perceive the necessity of their being furnhis’d with them as also of the other articles mentioned in the return.
I have seen some of the Arms which are Manufactured at Springfield, they are far Superior to the Hamburgh Arms. Your favor of 30th Inst. is duly received I am yours respectfully for E Stevens Jno. F. Gordon
