[Accounts Forw^d] [delivered 30^th Sep^t 1799] [to Mr miller] [also by Col[undecipherable]] William Simmons Esq^r Accountant War Department [James: Miller. d. 2. u^s] [Received 29 Oct 1799] William Simmons Esq^r Trenton Oct. 29. 1799— Sir Referring to what I had the honor of writing you this day with Sundry Vouchers for Cash expended in the Quarter Master department by Cap^t Vance on the Expedition to Northampton which I have by the directions of General Wilkins kept seperate from all others— I again send you Vouchers for Cash expended in this department up to the 31^st Ultimo by myself as his Agent, the irregularities of form I have endeavred to remove— as to those Vouchers that you informed me "were unauthorized both by Law and former precedent" I have wrote to the Secretary at War respecting and you will of course receive his instructions on those points— It is not necessary that Gen^l. Wilkins should examine those Vouchers himself and transmit them to you, as I am authorized to do this as well as being fully impowered by him to transact his Business here as if he was present. The Amount of the Vouchers now sent you being Fifteen Thousand six hundred and thirty dollars & Eighty six Cents for particular abstracts herewith I will thank you to acknowledge the Receipt of— I also inclose you Sales of Sundry Horses Forage &^c on the account of the United States amounting to one Thousand five hundred and sixty four dollars and twelve Cents, which the Quarter Master Gen^l. is accountable for— I am Sir Your Hble Ser^t.
