Sir,
Enclosed you have the certificate of the Register, by which it appears that the accompt of Samuel Lewis on the books of the Treasury, as Agent for paying arrears of cloathing due discharged soldiers has been closed for a balance of two hundred and seventy three dollars and seventy two cents with which he stood therein charged. As the application of this balance is to be exhibited in the books of your office, it is my request that such entries may be made therein, for the purpose of holding the Agent accountable for the same, as may be requisite.
